Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe™ has received very positive feedback during both the BETA and Pilot phases of implementation. The Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe Beta ended at the end of January. Three schools from Duval County and three from Pasco County participated in the Beta. The Beta impacted 1,013 students total, 320 in 1st grade, 378 in 3rd grade, and 226 in 5th grade and resulted in 8 disclosures. All of the results from the Beta were compiled and reviewed to update the program for a larger Pilot began March 1st. Already 216 facilitators have been trained. Additional training will include 162 facilitators in Hillsborough County by the end of March and personnel from another 44 schools in Clay County. Currently, we have 18 schools in Duval County and 32 schools in Pasco County ready to implement the Pilot program between March and June which equates to 4,206 students in 215 1st grade classrooms, 4,260 students in 221 3rd grade classrooms, and 4,192 students in 191 5th grade classrooms for a total of 12,667 students. As you can see, we are making headway to help prevent child abuse by providing safety and child abuse prevention education.
